Summer is right around the corner and summer skincare should be at the front of our thoughts.  As the weather starts to get warmer and we start spending more time outside, there are a few things we should do to make sure our skin stays healthy.

Summer Skincare

Simple Summer Skincare

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!  Start with your moisturizer.  Something light but nourishing will do the trick. From your face down to your toes!  Moisturizing is an important step in summer skincare. And don’t forget your body.

Once you go back inside, moisturize to help replenish what was taken after being in the sun.  Sunburn or not.

Drink water as often as possible.  TIP: Take a bottle of water with you wherever you go.  It makes the water accessible.  You don’t want to get dehydrated in the heat.

Exposure to the sun and all the things from being outdoors will cause your skin to dull and dead skin cells to accumulate. YUCK!  Let’s get rid of it with another summer skincare step, Exfoliate!   Use an exfoliating face wash  and a scrub or polish for your body.   TIP: Exfoliate right before you shave to get a close shave.

Don’t forget the feet.  Summer skincare routines should include all parts.  So, you want your feet in tip-top shape for your sandals and flip-flops.  (Did I just rhyme?) A good foot scrub will do the trick to keep your feet smooth and your skin healthy.  Don’t forget to moisturize too.  (Remember the first thing we said? Hydration is important for summer skincare….the feet count too!)

Pick the Right Moisturizer

What was the rule? Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!  It’s crucial in summer skincare.  So how do you make sure you are using the right moisturizer?  Let’s discuss.

Make sure you consider your skin type, where you live and what your day is going to be like.  Do you live in a humid area? But spend most of the day indoors in the A/C?  Those questions definitely factor in to what to choose.

If it’s high humidity where you are, you want a lighter moisturizer.  Make sure you give it time to seep into your skin.   If you are in a dry heat (I’m looking at you Arizona) you want a heavier moisturizer. Choose a heavier moisturizer if you are going to be indoors in the air conditioning too, it dries the skin out.

So summer skincare isn’t complicated.  It’s pretty simple. Make sure to Exfoliate and Hydrate (inside and out).

Oh, and before I forget,  if you get the dreaded sunburn, let’s make sure you take care of that.  Need something to help ease the pain and cool it down?  How about Just Chillin’? This giant cooling stick will do the trick for sure.

Enjoy your summer!
